A traditional village inn where you can still get a good pint of old English ale and freshly made food in delightful surroundings.

Proprietors Ian Burne and partner Karen Walsh have built an enviable reputation over the years since transforming it in 2004 from a simple pub, to a food lover's destination diner.

The meat comes from a farm and butchery not 20 miles away from the pub and they have won many prizes and awards for their 28 day hung beef producing the best tender steaks you can imagine. The farm is also known for its fantastic array of game and is the country's leading venison supplier.

If it's not steak you fancy, then there is a selection of fresh tasty fish or vegetarian dishes always on the menu plus a regularly changing list of chef's specials chosen to reflect the seasonal produce from around the area.

Patron chef Ian is a big fan of Antony Worral Thompson, Rick Stein, The Roux brothers and sons and James Martin. Ian had some tutoring by AWT at his London restaurant Notting Grill which gave him the enthusiasm to step up a gear or two some years ago and cook simply great food served in a small village inn. Some of the pubs chef specials are reproduced from dishes cooked by the celebrity TV chefs on Saturday Kitchen!

If you're looking for a great place to eat whilst the 2012 Olympic games are held at Dorney rowing lake near Eton, then join us for some Olympic games "Specials" dishes, themed around the Olympics 2012. Most events will be shown on large screen TV in the bar area.
